La prose du monde
Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris

From March 22 to August 18, the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris presents an exceptional retrospective devoted to the work of Jean Hélion. It is with great joy and deep emotion that we, the artist’s descendants, welcome this unique exhibition.

Through the APOJHé association (Association pour la Promotion de l’Oeuvre de Jean Hélion), which we founded to preserve and promote our grandfather’s work, the entire Hélion family will be present at this retrospective, which will provide a better understanding of Jean Hélion’s contribution to the major artistic movements of the 20th century.

This is the most extensive tribute to our grandfather since the exhibition held on the sixth floor of the Centre Pompidou in 2004. It highlights his entire body of work, spanning all periods, from abstraction and the return to figuration in the 40s, to the apogee of his contribution to art history in the 80s, when he lost his sight.

Our sincere thanks go to the director of the Musée d’Art Moderne, the exhibition curators, gallery owners and collectors who have made this exhibition possible. We are delighted that more than 150 major works can be presented, and that after being recognized by the greatest artists of the 20th century – Calder, Miro, Mondrian, Leger, Giacometti etc. – his work can finally conquer the hearts of the general public.

We look forward to seeing you from March 22 to share in this great moment.
